About

MICHAEL PALUMBO is a lighting and scenic designer for theatre, opera, dance, and music, including world and regional premieres. He has contributed designs to many theatres including TheatreWorks Silicon Valley; San Jose Repertory Theatre; Marin Theatre Company; Opera San Jose; Magic Theatre; Sacramento Opera; San Jose Stage Company; Aurora Theatre Company; American Conservatory Theatre; San Francisco Playhouse; 42nd Street Moon (San Francisco); Bay Area Musicals; Capital Stage; Diablo Theatre Company; Palo Alto Players; Teatro Vision de San Jose; University of California, Davis; Siena College; Pacific Repertory Theatre; City Lights Theater Company; SCT/Harbor Theatre; and Children's Musical Theatre San Jose.

After many years working freelance in the San Francisco Bay Area, he returned to graduate school, and he received his MFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2017. He has taught theatrical design at Susquehanna University, Santa Clara University, and Siena College.

He is a member of United Scenic Artists and is currently based in New York City. His producing company, Next Stage Productions (formerly Carollo & Palumbo LLC), has credits including bare: the musical off-Broadway, and the Broadway production of A Time to Kill.
